meh, the quality of story telling is decreasing with each iteration. MGS was a masterpiece, MGS3 was the high watermark, everything else is stale or overly convoluted to the point of ridiculousness

Spot on. MGS4 was just way too full of the conspiracy theory and a bit too convoluted for my tastes. It was a decent game, but took a hop, skip and a big leap away from the tactical espionage, stealth- action play of the previous installments. I'm sure the game will get great ratings, but it's about Raiden.... They tried to redeem him in MGS4, but I'll still remember him as the whiny little bitch he was introduced to us in MGS2.

I enjoyed all the MGSs- they've kept their flair must better than their competition (like Splinter Cell), but I'm not so hyped about this one. Oh well, it will probably be better than half the shit that gets released that month anyways. I won't be getting it though, just don't do much of that anymore. I'll probably get it a year later or something, but not at release.

So this is suppose to be a spin-off focused on Raiden, bridging the events of MGS2 and MGS4.
And it's not a xbox exclusive, they'll release it for PS3. It's not the first time MGS has been on a different console though. It has happen awhile back, though they re-switched it back, which was time consuming.

Any MGS without snake is not MGS, Might as well call it Solid Radien.
Anyone agree?

Never played it personally, but the MGS games don't really look that entertaining to me. Its the setting and the graphics that bother me.

So basically you mean

In MGS4, the player assumes the role of Old Snake, utilizing stealth, CQC and traditional combat techniques. The overhead camera of earlier Metal Gear games has been replaced by a third person camera, with First Person View and Over The Shoulder cameras optional.
