So I was just playing KH and I noticed something while watching that flashback with Kairi's grandmother. When she was telling the story to Kairi, she said something about the worlds being seperate, and when the true light is found again the world will become one. Is that going to have something to do with the later games in Kingdom Hearts?

Personally I always saw that as a metaphor more than anything, since all worlds are 'one' through Sora and others saving them from the Heartless/Nobodies.
Of course, if a literal merge were to happen, it would certainly make for an interesting outcome, but something that huge would probably only happen as part of the ending, or directly before a final boss of some kind, and most likely would be in the absolute last of the series (chronologically at least).

For ease of reference, here is the Fairy Tale of Kairi's Grandmother

Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light. Everyone loved the light. Then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves. And darkness was born in their hearts. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people’s hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared. But small fragments of light survived, in the hearts of children. With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It’s the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps, deep within the darkness. That’s why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other. But someday, a door to the innermost darkness will open and the true light will return. So, listen, child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. Your heart will shine with its power and push the darkness away.

And the applicable Xehanort Reports are III and IV

In ancient times, no such buffers kept the larger World divided; there were no walls of light enclosing each smaller world the way they do today. Nothing prevented one from physically interfering with the next.

At that time, the World was filled with light, and a great many Keyblade wielders. But without buffers, the worlds began to squabble over ownership of the light. You see, they learned of the Keyblade's true use. War broke out as each of the Keyblade wielders struggled to lay claim to an almighty entity known as Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts could be described as an aggregate of hearts. Worlds, too, have hearts, just like people; each world's heart is concealed from sight, beyond a hidden door. By gathering all the hearts of all the worlds in a single place, one may complete Kingdom Hearts.

And when Kingdom Hearts is complete, it is said the one who opens its door will bring about the creation of the Next World. Such a feat is above any human. Or, to put it a different way: whoever opens that door will be reborn as something far greater than human.

Light and darkness are two sides of the same coin; without darkness, there is no light. The Keyblade wielders' great war over Kingdom Hearts was fought by defenders of the light, servants of darkness, those who sought to reconcile the two, and those motivated by nothing more than lust for power. A whole spectrum of thought was swept into the conflict, and the worlds that did not go to war found the war brought to them. In the end, the whole World was cast into darkness. That was how the ancient Keyblade War drew to a close. To this day, no one has ever managed to open the door to Kingdom Hearts.

Some time later, the little light that remained in the hearts of the few gave rise to the World we know today: one made of many worlds behind just as many walls, so that the Keyblade War would not be repeated.

Note that Xehanort uses lowercase "world" to refer to a specific world, such as Radiant Garden or Destiny Islands; but he'll also use the uppercase "World" to refer to the entire universe. If you see it beginning the sentence it could be either so you just need to look at context.

In this description the World being whole doesn't mean there is a single giant world but that the various worlds aren't divided by walls. And I would like to note here that the destruction of walls in KH1 doesn't cut it because that was achieved by destroying worlds.

Then the light that was being fought over was Kingdom Hearts and them fighting over it lead to the Keyblade War. It isn't clear how or why the walls were made after the war. Perhaps the worlds made them on their own. The way Yen-Sid describes it hearts of worlds seem to behave similarly to hearts of people, just taken up a notch

Do not fear. If what the King suspected proves true, the worlds have prepared new pathways along which you may travel. These pathways may be utilized by unlocking special gates. How these gates are opened, I'm afraid I do not know... However, the Keyblade will serve as your guide. When a beam of light radiates from the Keyblade, return to the Gummi Ship. Though the worldsmay seem far apart and out of reach, they nonetheless remain connected by invisible ties. As do our hearts.

So I don't think it would be a stretch to say that after the worlds became hurt in the Keyblade War that they made physical walls where we would make emotional ones.

tl;dr The worlds will not likely fuse together into one massive one.

I always thought the same. Maybe, maybe not. I guess so far from reading Ansems reports and what not, most of the things you read most likely will happen in later games.

If i remember right, she said people began to fight over the light and split the worlds up. In BBS Xehanort said that it was the keyblade war that did this. Vanitas also stated that it was the light within kingdom hearts was the light everyone was fighting over, hence to get the X-Blade.

Her story pretty much sums up what happened in the Keyblade War.

After seeing the video again, I believe we might see it in the new Kingdom Hearts 3D and the worlds will connect again. That is if Nomura decides to do it.

She did. The key blade war started because everyone wanted power of light and darkness over the worlds, when it was over it led to the key blade graveyard.

The Keyblade War (キーブレード戦争 Kīburēdo Sensō?) was a mysterious conflict in which many Keyblade wielders fought prior to the events of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. According to Xehanort's research, the conflict arose when the Keyblade wielders of the Light and the Darkness clashed with each other to create the χ-blade and, with it, control Kingdom Hearts.
